Success for Almaty Triathlon Federation team at the Central Asian Triathlon Championship

On June 29th 2019 , the Asian Cup and the Central Asian Triathlon Championship (sprint distance) were held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. More than 90 athletes from Azerbaijan, Hong Kong, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Syria, Taipei, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Japan took part in the tournament. The Almaty Triathlon Federation team (head coach - Maxim Mazur) was represented by their strongest triathletes: Gaziza Kumakbaeva, Daria Bychkova, Anton Vitolin, Egor Krupyakov and Alexander Ten.

All the Almaty athletes won various medals at the Central Asian Championships.

Almaty Triathlon Federation team member Anton Vitolin won a silver medal in the men's Elite category - with a time of 1:02:22, only 7 seconds off the triathlete from Akmola region, Temirlan Temirov. Iranian athlete Behzad Nobari Pour finished third (1:02:42).

In the women's Elite category, nobody could match Almaty sportswomen Daria Bychkova (1:13:48) and Gaziza Kumakbayeva (1:15:07).


Kazakhstan triathlon's young legend Alexander Ten once again confirmed his title of the best in Asia. In the U-15 category (super sprint distance) comfortably taking 1st place with a score of 00:32:50. This comes after his victory on June 22nd 2019 in the city of Gyeongju (South Korea), when he became the champion of Asia after a tough fight against top triathletes from Korea and Japan. His teammate Yegor Krupyakov came second (00:34:05). Kyrgyz triathlete Saveli Proskurnikov took bronze (00:34:53).

Asian Triathlon Cup  the “Almaty ASTC Sprint Triathlon Asian Cup» will be held on 3rd - 4th  August 2019 in Almaty on Lake Sairan. The national organizers are the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation and Almaty Triathlon Federation. More than 150 athletes from 29 countries of Asia, Europe, Australia, Africa and North America participate in the competitions. About 150 Kazakhs and world leaders in amateur triathlon will also compete in the Almaty ASTC Sprint Triathlon Asian Cup.
